A project for the surgeons to learn pedicle surgery using virtual reality and haptic devices.
I am working on the visual graphics and the simulation of the procedure for this application. It can be seen in the below images that a hole is to be drilled in the L3 spine segment and a pedicle screw is to be placed in it to straighten the vertebrae. (Scoliosis is an example)
This simulator was integrated with a 6 DOF Haptic device to control the chiselling of the L3 spine.
