The Fire Safety Simulator is a Virtual reality project for training people to use a fire extinguisher in different scenarios.
The speciality of this project is that it uses a customised fire extinguisher which delivers haptic feedback when the handle of the fire extinguisher is squeezed and the nozzle is tracked in real time in the virtual environment.
This project was demonstrated at the Tamilnadu Fire And Rescue Services and it is being supported by them.
Recently, I had ported this application to a wireless android based VR headset. In the above images, it can be seen that, the system uses a dedicated computer and there are several wires and base stations connected.
But the latest version, is completely wireless, and the fire extinguisher is no more in prototype phase. It is properly packed and ready for distribution. It can be seen in this image.
The project was demonstrated to the Director of Tamil Nadu Fire Safety IPS C. Sylendra Babu.
